All religion, my friend, is simply evolved out of fraud, fear, greed, imagination, and poetry.
To go forward in life not knowing who you are or where you’re coming from is poetry.
We need a renaissance of wonder. We need to renew, in our hearts and in our souls, the deathless dream, the eternal poetry, the perennial sense that life is miracle and magic.
In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it’s the exact opposite.
It would undermine the power of [a] poem to dissect it for general psychological truths. When a poem speaks to us, it doesn’t impart information, which we can retain and analyse, but responds to the questions life poses. It helps us experience ourselves in another way.

Poetry isn’t written from the idea down. It’s written from the phrase, line and stanza up, which is different from what your teacher taught you to do in school.
There’s no money in poetry, but then there’s no poetry in money, either.
Poetry is like making a joke. If you get one word wrong at the end of a joke, you have lost the whole thing.
